  • Several questions for Nick Koenigsknecht and Javier Peres

What is the most challenging part of running a gallery?
Running an art gallery can be very unpredictable. Each day brings new challenges. This can of course be very tough, but it’s also something that makes working in this field so rewarding.

How would you describe the relationship between your gallery and the artists you represent?
Symbiotic. We need each other in order to survive and thrive.

What is your best memory of FIAC?
FIAC for us is always an incredibly rewarding fair. We absolutely adore Jennifer Flay and what she has done to increase the fair’s place in the Parisian art scene, and it’s always a highlight of our fall season. We have been able to place a number of our artists’ works with important public collections at the fair, particularly those from France, and I also discovered the work of the young American artist Diamond Stingily at the fair with Queer Thoughts. Now I have been collecting Diamond’s work with some depth.

Can you recommend cool hidden places in Berlin?
I’m obsessed with the Bode Museum and their exhibition “Beyond Compare” that brings together ancient African art alongside their collection of ancient Christian art from Europe.

What is your favorite place for lunch near your gallery?
The Store at Soho House in Mitte.
