• Several questions for Francisco Salas

    Introduce yourself.
I'm Francisco Salas curator and director of PM8.

Why did you decide to open a gallery in Vigo?
It seemed the most logical thing to do as I live here...

How would you describe the relationship between your gallery and the artists you represent?
We have a very close relationship: rich, based on trust a permanent exchange which makes us grow together as individuals and as professionals. In fact we are what you might call an extended family.

What inspires you in contemporary art?
    Good people and good art.

    Continue the sentence “FIAC is…”
one of the best platforms worldwide where to show our project to an international, demanding and expert audience.

What is your favorite place for lunch near your gallery?
There are several restaurants and cafes in the street of the gallery: The Othilio, Mijo or Trastienda del 4, all with very charming small terraces where you can have lunch in summer...

Can you recommend cool hidden places in Vigo?
The old decadent bar/restaurant of El Club Nautico (close to the gallery), a beautiful rationalist building from 1945 with beautiful terraces. When you seat there you feel like if you were in a boat. In its bar/restaurant the huge space welcomes the visitor, it is almost empty after lunch and you can have a drink and the most beautiful views of the sea... and quietly watch the sunset.

What are your favorite places in Paris?
It is difficult to choose... the Marais, the Jardins des Archives nationales, the Place des Vosges, the Maison de Victor Hugo, the Musée Gustave Moreau... there are many. When in the city I like to walk around very early in the morning or in late evening, especially in the spring and summer...
