Truck and rockwool
Variable dimensions
Ceysson & Bénétière, Paris, Luxembourg, Saint-Étienne, New York
Avenue Winston Churchill
Nicolas Momein was born in 1980 in Saint-Etienne. He lives and works in
Paris. When seen from the outside, Cul-de-sac appears to be an ordinary
truck, but Nicolas Momein’s work is actually a sculpture, an eight-cubic-
metre container filled with mineral wool. The empty space corresponds to the shape formed by the passage of the body of the individual who projected the mineral wool onto the walls of the compartment, while attempting to ll it to its maximum capacity. The title of the artwork, Cul-de-sac, describes a restrictive relationship between a body, a material, and a confined space in which, once the work has begun, there is no other option but to leave the way you came.
