    Axionométrie, 2017

    Photographic prints on mixed materials
    250 x 250 x 250 cm

Ceysson & Bénétière, Paris, Luxembourg, Saint-Étienne, New York

Aurélie Pétrel was born in 1980 in Paris. She lives and works between Paris and Geneva. In her photographic practice, flat prints form volumes that open a dialogue with the architecture and environment around them. Her researches focus on the status of the image, its modes of apparition and materiality. The work Axionométrie consists in reconstituting a cube measuring 250cm3 with photographic images printed directly on steel and glass battens. This structure draws inspiration from the works of Peter Eisenman and his practice of architectural deconstruction. The photographs were taken in a laboratory whose red safelight induces the chemical apparition of the image. The work captures the mutation of the image as well as the precise moment of its revelation
