For the first time, the Palace of Versailles devoted a large-scale exhibition to Louis-Philippe and his decision to transform, under the July monarchy, the former royal residence into a museum. The exhibition, which will open on the anniversary of Louis-Philippe's birth, will serve as a reminder of this decisive moment for Versailles, which is now experiencing a new life. She will also stress Louis-Philippe's fundamental role in this transformation. Indeed, on October 6, 1789, when Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette and the royal family were forced to leave for Paris, the deserted castle definitively ceased to be a royal residence.
