    Adrian Schiess was born in 1959 in Zurich, Switzerland. He lives and works in Zürich and Lelocle, Switzerland.

    He presents two recent works from his ongoing series “Malerei”, which deal with the reflection of the daylight and the surrounding of the Petit Palais. The artist says about his work: “I first showed the international public part of my paintings, the panels, at the 1990 Venice Biennale and at Documenta 9 in 1992. At the time these works were quickly misunderstood as a type of monochrome painting, as radical painting, as Neo Geo, and so on. For me this meant working with both internal as well as external images, depiction, portrayal, space, time, site, place, feelings, surfaces, appearances, shine, and realities. (….) I see the panels as part of an enormously enlarged picture that I am continuously developing. An individual panel can represent a small fragment, a small stone in a mosaic, or a pixel. Reality is the origin of these paintings. The image is dispersed and lost, and the superficial images are fleeting, always showing the here and now. (…)”
