2017 CONVERSATIONS

FIAC presents a two-day conferences cycle, on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of October, in the Conversation Room inside the fair, on the first floor on the right of the Escalier d’honneur of the Grand Palais.

In 2017, FIAC invites 89plus, a long-term, international, multiplatform research project co-founded by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist, investigating the generation of innovators born in or after 1989.

Marked by several paradigm-shifting events, the year 1989 saw the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the start of the post- Cold War period, and the introduction of the World Wide Web and the beginning of the universal availability of the Internet. Positing a relationship between these world-changing events and creative production at large, 89plus introduces the work of some of this generation’s most inspiring protagonists.

89plus has partnered with Google Arts and Culture for over four years, with artist residencies at the Google Arts and Culture Lab.

The 2017 89plus residency welcomes artists Lito Kattou, Elise By Olsen and Matt Copson.

In partnership with Google Arts & Culture.

GOOGLE ARTS & CULTURE

89plus has partnered with Google Arts and Culture for over four years, with artist residencies at the Google Arts and Culture Lab.

Invited artists spend two months in residence at the Lab developing projects in dialogue with Google engineers and the Lab creative team whilst exploring the technology and resources available on-site.

The 2017 artists in residence are Matt Copson, Elise By Olsen and Lito Kattou: Matt works in sculpture, murals and animations creating narrative installations exploring folklore, contemporaneity and expression; Elise is an Oslo-based Editor-in-Chief of youth culture magazine Recens Paper and fashion commentary Wallet; and Lito is a visual artist working principally with sculpture, exploring 3D modeling and machine learning technology.

The Google Arts and Culture Lab brings together tech and creative communities to share ideas and discover new ways to experience art and culture.
