Jardin des Tuileries - FIAC 2013

Tuileries 2013

Jardin des Tuileries

For the eight consecutive year, in collaboration with the Domaine national du Louvre et des Tuileries, FIAC will stage an outdoor exhibition located in the renowned Tuileries Garden. The growing interest for this annual event among galleries and artists - together with the exceptional beauty of the site - has enabled us to bring together each year some two dozen projects, including sculptures, installations and ephemeral creations, deployed in the garden's fountains, basins, lawns, alleys and groves.

The outstanding quality of the works exhibited in the Tuileries garden over the last five years has prompted us to edit retrospective publication entitled "Aux Tuileries" in collaboration with the Louvre Museum. Prefaced by Henri Loyrette, President Director of the Louvre Museum, Marie-Laure Bernadac, curator of Contemporary Art at the Louvre Museum and Jennifer Flay, Director of FIAC, it features a fascinating text by Pierre Bonnaure, Head Gardener of the Tuileries at the Louvre Museum and historian of gardens, retracing the history of the ephemeral presence of contemporary artworks in the Tuileries since their creation.

An ever wider public is demonstrating a lively interest in the itinerary through the Tuileries and manifesting a growing interest in modern and contemporary art. A service of cultural mediation will take place in association with the Ecole du Louvre from the 24th to the 27th of October from 3pm to 5.30pm, students in art history from the Ecole du Louvre will present the artworks to the general public.
