Candy Shop – the Circus, 2015

    Sunday, October 22nd - 7.30pm
    Duration: 45 minutes
Performed by: Nouria Bah / Anat Ben David / Angharad Davies / Sharon Gal / Heidi Heidelberg / Rebecca La Horrox / Lina Lapelyte

Lina Lapelyte’s performance-based practice is rooted in music and flirts with pop culture, gender stereotypes, aging and nostalgia. Candy Shop is best known as a dirty rap hit by 50 Cent. Candy Shop - the Circus is a performance reworking the games of power that are embedded in the rap songs into lullabies, narrating the story about beauty, gender and the mundane. The performance is an opera for 7 female performers, a men choir, a drummer, a marching band, a combination of hip-hop texts, electronics and video that invites a collective meditation on power hierarchies.

With the support of the Lithuanian Embassy in France.

Address: Main entrance, Palais de la découverte, avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 75008 Paris
