Barry Flanagan
Born in Northern Wales in 1941, Barry Flanagan lived and worked in Dublin until his recent and untimely death in August 2009. Barry Flanagan is appreciated for his freely inspired variations on classical sculpture, notably in his bronze representations of hares, elephants and horses. Even when working on a monumental scale, Flanagan's sculptures show a marvelous sensitivity to his models, which confers on them the grace, liberty and originality typical of the great tradition of British sculpture.
