Atelier Van Lieshout
Founded in 1995 by the Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout, the Van Lieshout workshop functions as a small business with a collective approach. Approximately twenty people with multidisciplinary talents make up the creative team. Their productions stretch the limits between architecture, design and contemporary art. They share the vision of a constantly changing world, and a belief that art should serve an ethical purpose. The Favela project was realized in collaboration with the inhabitants of Sao Paulo. One of the façades was conceived the Van Lieshout workshop in their identifiable style, then donated to the residents of the favelas who completed the construction of their homes with found materials.
